We use the Solea Laser in most of our procedures at The Kids Dentist. This means we are able to offer top-of-the-line technology and provide the absolute best experiences and results for our patients.
Please reach us at info@thekidsdentistks.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Solea is a carbon dioxide dental laser that replaces the need for anesthesia in many dental treatments and allows for safe removal of cavities as well as provides a bactericidal effect to keep the tooth as clean as possible during treatment.
Solea uses laser technology to vaporize the target tissue so and allows us to remove cavities or gum tissue quickly and safely.
Yes! Solea uses a wavelength of light delivered in so many pulses per second that it overwhelms pain receptors, preventing pain signals from ever reaching the brain. This results in an analgesic effect that takes away sensations aside from cold and slight pressure.
Yes! Solea has been FDA cleared for treatment and has been used in 10 million dental procedures and counting.
One big issue we see with kids is that they may bite themselves if they are numb following treatment. When we use Solea, kids are not numb and so this is a non-issue. Also, kids are able to eat immediately after the procedure!
Many patients report feeling nothing. Others feel cold or pressure. Most times we are able to adjust to a point that remains perfectly comfortable while completing procedures.
There is no additional charge from our office for using Solea. Insurance coverage is also not altered by using Solea.
When we do not need to numb, we are able to keep patients more relaxed and potentially do more treatment at one visit. This means less days out of school for our patients and happier kids at the end of the appointments!
The next big thing for Solea will be cavity prevention! We hope to have more information about that soon!
